Who knew love could be a simple swipe away! with the help of a dating app we met for the first time halfway between Redondo Beach and Port Hueneme at Dude’s Brewing Co. to enjoyed our first beer together. Not long after that we took our first photo together at the Santa Monica Mountains.

Always a special place in our hearts, this is the spot where we decided to make it official, no more dating apps! Perfect place to go back for our engagement photos.

Our first road trip—one of many adventures to come—took us to Lake Powell in Page, Arizona. While standing at the Horseshoe Bend overlook, we noticed people camping and kayaking at the base of the canyon. We instantly knew that kayaking and camping at the base of Horseshoe Bend had to be added to our bucket list.

During a boating accident, Daniela fractured her back—a challenge that taught us about resilience, support, and love. This experience brought us even closer, strengthening our bond and laying the foundation for our lifelong commitment.

We ditch our individual apartment and condo and decide to move in together. Cheers to a new chapter!

Shawn joined JPS, marking an incredible achievement and the end of his time as captain at Bay State. Most importantly, this meant no more being away at sea for 75 days or more—a huge relief for both of us!

Four years after our first road trip to Lake Powell, we made it back! We kayaked to the base of Horseshoe Bend, where we set up camp at mile 9. As the sun set and the first star appeared above the canyon sky, Shawn proposed in front of the bonfire, red canyon walls, and deep blue sky. Without a doubt, the response was YES!
